Photos: ANSU student shot dead during SUG 'bonfire night' • Student's week suspended.

A male Computer Science student of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Uli campus (formerly Anambra State University) has been reportedly shot dead by unidentified gunmen.

               Mohammed, the deceased

According to a student of the institution the incident occurred on 27th April, 2017. He was in company of his fellow students on their way home from bonfire night when he was shot.

"Mohammed was walking to his hostel with his friends when he was shot at the popular TRACAS park. One of the gunmen approached him and claimed he's among the SUG executives before shooting him on a close range. He's the only son of his parents.

"He didn't die immediately. He was lying in the pool of his blood begging for help but didn't get any before he bled to death. The worst is that he's from the Northern part of the country. It's purely a case of mistaken identity because he has nothing to do with Students Union Government.

"The SUG president was immediately contacted to take the victim to the hospital with the Student's Union bus but he said it was faulty. I don't know why they shot him. The ongoing SUG week has been suspended.

"The police have started investigation but I doubt if they're going to come up with anything meaningful because similar incidents have happened before now and non of the culprits have been arrested," he said.

Bonfire night is part of the activities during the Student's Union Week.
