History of Ihembosi (Light of the Day)

Let's go down history lane.... Nri is believe to be the home of Igbos. Ezechumuagha is one of the sons of Nri until he left and went futher to southern part of river Niger and had a son name Inwele, Inwelle on the other hand had Ogidi as a son.

Ogidi married two women namely Duaja the first wife and Amalanyia the second wife. His first wife gave birth to five children namely: Akanano, Uru, Ezinkwo, Umudo and Amaogwu and Amalanyia the second wife gave birth to four children namely Ikenga, Nne Ogidi, Uruagu and Achalla Ogidi. Then all the sons of Ogidi move futher 4 greener pastures while others still remain within their fathers territory, Uruagu is now in present Nnewi, while Achalla Ogidi had Okija, Ihembosi, Ihiala and Uli.

Okija, Ihembosi, Ihiala and Uli had one father called Achala, the son of Ogidi. This is why Okija is some times known as Okija – Achala – Ogidi.

According to same history, Okija was the first son: Ihembosi, the 2nd, Ihiala, the 3rd, and uli the 4th and last. Naturally, they have to choose things and break Kola in order of seniority. This is why Okija breaks Kola nut for all the towns in Ihiala LGA, the court belonging to these four related towns ,though situated at Ihiala, is known as Achala Town court up to today.
