Being hurt by the lion, the man does not even try to escape. He sits on the border instead and waits for the next attack to happen. And here it goes! The lion is a bit confused, but it uses its huge and lethal teeth and claws on the enemy.

They really had a hard time getting the man out of the lion den. It was easier for the rescuers to make a deal with the lions!

Afropop singer, D'banj, has taken a hard stance against nosy cats who have been showing too much interest concerning his marriage by telling them to mind their business.

The DB Records artiste told Punch News in an interview that his recently launched CREAM project, which stands for Creative, Reality, Entertainment, Arts and Music, is his main concern for the time being.

“My marriage is my business and it is none of your business. Whether I am married or not, mind your business. If you ever see a wedding ring on my finger, fine, but if you don’t, fine."

"The truth about it is that it is very important to know what you want as a brand. As a brand, I wanted to focus on the business side and keep my family and private life, private and concentrate on CREAM.”

News broke earlier in 2016 that the singer has reportedly held a secret wedding with his girlfriend, Lineo Didi Kilgrow.

Though the singer has neither denied nor confirmed the truth about the matter, his recent comment might just be a huge sign post pointing to that the rumour may be true.

“When we have 10 million subscribers on CREAM, then I could do something in the stadium. In fact during that time, I could wed again”, he said.

Philippine President calls Barack Obama a “son of a whore"

     
Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte called Barack Obama a “son of a whore” on Monday as he vowed not to be lectured by the US leader on human rights when they meet in Laos.

The acid-tongued Duterte bristled at warnings he would face questioning by the US president over a crime war in the Philippines that has claimed more than 2,400 lives in just over two months.

“You must be respectful. Do not just throw away questions and statements. Son of a whore, I will curse you in that forum,” Duterte told a news conference shortly before flying to Laos to attend the summit.

“We will be wallowing in the mud like pigs if you do that to me.”

Duterte was due to hold a bilateral meeting with Obama on Tuesday afternoon on the sidelines of a summit of global leaders hosted by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations in Vientiane, the Lao capital.

Duterte was elected in May after a promise to wage an unprecedented war on illegal drugs that would see tens of thousands of suspects killed.

Official figures released Sunday show that, since Duterte took office on June 30, over 2,400 people have been killed in police anti-drug operations and by suspected vigilantes.

Duterte has angrily rejected criticism from the Catholic Church, human rights groups, legislators and the United Nations.

Duterte vowed Monday the bloodbath would continue as he pursued his goal of eradicating illegal drugs in the Philippines.

“More people will be killed, plenty will be killed until the last pusher is out of the streets. Until the (last) drug manufacturer is killed, we will continue and I will continue,” he said.

Duterte insisted he would not take orders from the United States, a former colonial ruler of the Philippines, and did not care about how he was perceived.

“I don’t give a shit about anybody observing my behaviour,” he said.

Duterte also used vulgar language to accuse his domestic critics of wanting to please the United States.

“There are others who have the mental capacity of dogs who lap at the ass of the Americans,” he said in reference to his critics.

Duterte is notorious for using offensive language.

During the election campaign Duterte described the US ambassador to Manila as a “son of a whore” and being homosexual.

This was in response to the ambassador’s criticism of Duterte for making a joke about wanting to rape a “beautiful” Australian missionary who was killed in a Filipino jail.

Jimoh Ibrahim gets INEC nomination form

      
THE Senator Ali Modu Sheriff faction of Ondo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday said its governorship candidate, Jimoh Ibrahim, has obtained the nomination form of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Its chairman, Biyi Poroye, who spoke with reporters in Akure, the Ondo State capital, said the form was

handed over to Ibrahim at the INEC national headquarters in Abuja.

According to him, the form obtained by Ibrahim had given credence to his faction as the authentic PDP in Ondo State.

He said the party’s national secretariat has backed Ibrahim’s ambition.

Poroye added that Ibrahim would represent the party in the November 26 governorship poll.

He hinged the INEC’s decision on a judgment of an Abuja High Court delivered by Justice O.E. Aaba, which affirmed that his tenure as the state PDP chairman would end in 2018.

He alleged that the Chairman of the Ahmed Makarfi faction, Clement Faboyede, was an impostor.

Poroye said the Ondo State High Court sitting in Akure, which ruled in favour of Faboyede, did not have the jurisdiction to handle the matter since it involves a political party with a national spread.

He said only a Federal High Court could handle such matter.

He accused the Makarfi faction led by Governor Olusegun Mimiko of abuse of judiciary and warned against action.

On the emergence of Chief Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Poroye described it as a welcome development for the PDP.

He said: “We have nothing to fear about Akeredolu, because he will make the contest an easy ride for us. Akeredolu had contested before and we know his strength.”

President Buhari will soon revive Nigerian economy – APC

      
The All Progressives Congress on Monday urged Nigerians to be patient with President Muhammadu Buhari, saying his strong political will would revive the nation’s economy.

This is contained ‎in a statement released to newsmen in Abuja by the National Secretary of the party, Alhaji Mai Mala Buni.

According to the statement, the Peoples Democratic Party should stop making insensitive comments about the economy as the government is conscious of the hardship its citizens were faced with.

‎Buni said, ”In reacting to the orchestrated and insensitive comments by the PDP on the economy, the APC urges the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration to remain focused in its bold bid to restore economic growth in the country.

”In spite of PDP’s orchestrated and feeble attempts to blackmail the current administration and twist facts, the reality remains that the prevailing socio-economic hardship faced by Nigerians is a direct consequence of the mismanagement of the economy.

“It also includes the unprecedented looting of the country’s commonwealth perpetrated under PDP’s watch.

”The PDP’s attempt to turn truth on its head is fraudulent, insensitive and an insult to Nigerians.

”For the umpteenth time, the PDP must own up to its transgression and apologise to Nigerians.

”Going forward, the urgent task before the President Muhammadu Buhari-led APC administration is to restore the country’s battered economy back to health.

“All legitimate and innovative means are being employed to achieve this in the quickest possible time.

”The APC assures Nigerians of the strong political will and commitment of Buhari’s administration to revive the economy and tackle the nation’s current challenges through suitable and well-thought economic policies, fiscal discipline and socio-political reforms.”

He said that ‎among other strategic economic agenda planned by the government, diversification of the country’s economy was a priority.

PDP launches new twitter handle

     
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has disowned one Deji Adeyanju as its Director of New Media, as the party launched a new twitter handle for effective control of its affairs.

This is contained in statement signed by Chinwe Nnorom, Head of PDP Publicity Unit, yesterday in Abuja.

The statement said the Chairman, National Caretaker Committee of the party, Sen. Ahmed Makarfi, had directed the immediate closure of the party’s official twitter handle “@pdpnigeria“ and re-launched a new one.

It said the decision became necessary due to the frequent unauthorized, and at most times, embarrassing tweets that emanated from the handle tweeted by the handlers claiming to represent the PDP.

It recalled that the party had in the past announced the shutdown of the Handle on two occasions when hackers manipulated it to embarrass the party.

“Following these developments, the party hereby informs all its members, supporters, friends, the media and general public to ignore and disregard any tweet from the Handle @pdpnigeria forthwith.

“In view of the above, the party has immediately re-launched a new Handle, @officialpdpnig to form part of the social media platform of our great party for ease of communication, administration and control,” the statement said.

It added that the PDP leadership also frowned at the incessant and unauthorized statements being issued by some party members purported to have spoken for and on behalf of the party.

The party recalled that its National Publicity Secretary, on June 17, 2015, issued a statement entitled, “PDP disowns group over unauthorized statements on Buhari”.

It said that the party had also urged members nationwide to desist from making official statements on its behalf without authorization.

“The PDP hereby states unequivocally that the position of Director of New Media is non-existent and alien to the PDP Establishment Manual, and has not appointed Deji Adeyanju as PDP Director of New Media.

“For emphasis, Social Media is one of the Units in the Publicity Division of the Party and not a separate directorate, division or unit.

“For clarification, the National Publicity Secretary, Mr Dayo Adeyeye, is currently the Chief Spokesman and Image-maker of our party in line with the PDP Constitution.

“Consequently, nobody is allowed to issue official statement or speak for and on behalf of the party except authorized by the party hierarchy to do so.

“The leadership warns that it will not hesitate to take disciplinary measures accordingly against any member that flouts this directive.

“Finally, the party calls on all members to unite and work together with the National Caretaker Committee in their quest to achieve harmony, rebrand, rebuild and revitalise the vision, mission and ideals of our founding fathers.”

SERAP sends powerful message to Buhari over planned phone call tax

      
Human rights advocacy group, Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project SERAP, has advised the Federal Government to drop its plan to impose 10 per cent tax on every phone call made, text message sent and data used by Nigerians.

Rather than impose the tax on Nigerians, the group advised the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federation Government to immediately roll out social protection programmes to alleviate the effect of harsh economy on the masses.

SERAP said this on Sunday in an open letter to the Federal Government by its Senior Staff counsel, Timothy Adewale.

The letter read partly, “SERAP calls on President Buhari to immediately drop the proposed 10 per cent tax on phone calls, text messages, data and more, as this would disproportionately affect the socially and economically-vulnerable and push them deeper into poverty and deprivation.

“Increased poverty and the hunger that it brings will threaten the right to life and health of many socially and economically-vulnerable, including women and children. These groups of people are bearing the brunt and feeling the impacts of the economic crisis on their standards of living, their jobs and their homes.

“We urge President Buhari to immediately provide economic stimulus packages that are focused on limiting the worst human consequences of the crisis, and give priority attention to the most vulnerable and marginalised in the distribution of resources.”

The group also urged Buhari to put pressure on the National Assembly to trim down its budget spending, which it noted was N115bn in 2016.

Eagles Stars Furious After Akwa Cash Gift Is Used To Pay Allowances

  
Super Eagles stars have been left fuming after a 10 million Naira gift by Akwa State Governor was converted to pay for their camp allowances.

Cash-strapped Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) reportedly did not pay any win bonus for the Tanzania match, but overseas-based stars were promised their return flight ticket refunds.

Akwa State Governor Emmanuel Odom gave the team 10 million Naira after their 1-0 win over Tanzania in a final AFCON 2017 qualifier on Saturday.

However, it was gathered that top NFF officials got the Governor to say the money will be used to cover their camp allowances.

“I can tell you that the players did not find this funny. They expected that the Governor’s cash gift will not have anything with their camp allowances, which is $200-a-man a day,” a team source disclosed.

“The NFF need to live up their responsibilities rather than continue to depend on handouts.”

It is now left to be seen how the NFF will overcome their financial mess in time for 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Zambia and Algeria in the coming months.
