Father arrested for raping his 15-year-old daughter

A 49-year-old businessman was recently arrested for raping his 15-year-old daughter.

The businessman identified as Tony Ehumadu, was caught raping his daughter, by his wife who is a custom officer, in their house in the Oko-Oba area of Abule Egba, Lagos state.

                       Tony Ehumadu
Ehumadu who went ahead to explain how he raped his eldest daughter twice, said his wife didn’t want to report him to the police, but had told her brother who eventually took the matter to the police.

Here’s what he said:

“I did the abominable act with my eldest daughter. But I only raped her twice. I don’t know what came over me. I am convinced that forces beyond me led me into committing the crime. Both incidents happened on Fridays. One Friday night, one of my friends invited me to a naming ceremony around Power Line, New Oko-Oba. I came back home drunk but my wife was not around. All my children, except the eldest, were asleep.

Immediately, I rushed in and raped her. I did not meet her as a virgin. But the second time, my wife was at home. That Friday night, we were all watching a movie, when I suddenly stood up and went straight into my daughter’s room and started raping her. It was at that point that my wife caught me and started shouting. My wife did not want to go to the police because of the embarrassment it would bring to the family and because of her reputation as a Customs officer. But her brother did.”

Following conclusion of voting on Wednesday, INEC has said that there are no results yet, informing that collation of results for the governorship election would begin today, September 29.

It was gathered that the decision to commence the collation today is in connection with the late arrival of results from the 18 local government areas.

The Edo election has been tagged two horse race between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), though nineteen candidates are vying for the ticket to the Government House.

Edo state has a total of 1,925,105 registered voters; 192 Registration Areas (RAs); 2,627 Polling Units (PUs); and 4,011 Voting Points (VPs).

Shortly after conclusion of elections in all parts of Edo state, some unofficial results began to trickle in, with the PDP taking an initial lead, and the APC taking over somewhere midway.

7 hilarious photos of couples kissing at weddings

Once the pastor says ‘You may now kiss the bride’, it’s normal for a couple to feel a lot of pressure to wow the guests.

Some couples remain aware of their photographers and ensure that their kiss looks good from angles. Some couples just get lost in the moment and could not care less whether it’s a picture perfect moment or not.

Therefore we bring to you the funniest kiss ever witnessed in marriage ceremonies:

1. When the groom tries to take his wife’s breath away.

2. When the groom is the Nigerian James Bond.

3. When the wedding kiss turns into something else.

    4. When the couple does their own version of ‘french kissing’.

5. When the groom is a spider man.

6. When the bride is hungry for the kiss.

7. When the groom wedding rain is in full support of the kiss.

Read what Zidane said after Ronaldo insulted him and his mother

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane reacted to Ronaldo’s disrespect after substitution.

Ronaldo demonstrated horrible disrespect to Zinedine Zidane  in their 2 – 2 draw away to Las Palmas. The three-time Balon d’Or winner was substituted in the 72nd minute.

The Portuguese star was seen muttering various words under his breath as he made his way towards the dugout.

Scandal! Ronaldo shows disrespect and insults Zidane after substitution (photo/video)

Ronaldo could not even look at Zidane and his sulk lasted for several more minutes as he watched the closing stages of the match from the sidelines.

But what was the Real Madrid star saying? According to  Sport, the 31-year-old said the Spanish equivalent of

“your f**king mother” or “f**k you” in the direction of the Zidane. “Not just that, but he also said…a Portuguese expression somewhere between ‘f–k yourself’ and ‘for f–k’s sake,’”

the source added.

And Zidane reacted: “It was not that Ronaldo was playing badly. Cristiano must rest too sometimes. It was just for that. He was playing well. Tonight I took him off thinking of Tuesday’s game.”

When asked about Ronaldo’s reaction, Zidane noted:  “Angry? That would be your interpretation.”

However the manager stressed: “He always wants to be on the pitch. We have to take him out sometimes, and we did today. It does not change anything.”

Evil! Prostitutes, customers killed in Umuahia brothel (photos)

Six persons were reportedly found dead and two unconscious this morning in a hotel known as 50-50 in Abia state.

Abia Facts Newspaper reports that the older prostitutes living in the hotel which is located around Uyo street in Umuahia, had complained about mysterious slaps some weeks back. The ghostly slap had left one of them unconscious. This forced them to move out of the brothel.

Mamoth crowd gather to unravel the mystery

However, the owner of the brothel recruited new prostitutes from other cities to continue his business. But unfortunately, three prostitutes and their customers are today not alive to tell the story of what happened overnight that left them dead. The Nigerian Police also cordoned off the hotel, as a mammoth crowd gathered around the hotel in hopes of unraveling this mystery of the evil slaps.

Man killed after winning lottery in Lagos

A 35-year-old man, Ejike Onyejekwe, has been killed in the FESTAC Town area of Lagos State.
It was learnt that the victim, who lived on 21 Road, K Close, FESTAC, was stabbed to death after winning a lot of money from a lottery.

Our correspondent gathered that Onyejekwe, to celebrate the winning, bought drinks for his friends and threw a party last Thursday and Friday.

It was learnt that on Friday evening, he was heard arguing with an unidentified person on the phone.

He allegedly told his friend he was going to see the man, but never returned.

His corpse was allegedly discovered the next day on one of the estates.

A resident, who did not want to be identified, said the chairman of the estate called the attention of residents to the corpse on Saturday.

He said, “I was sipping tea around 7am when I heard the chairman blowing a whistle. I thought it was strange, but my wife called my attention to the surging crowd on the estate.

“I went downstairs and saw the corpse on the road. Like everybody, I was alarmed. We could not tell how the corpse got there or who he was. He had multiple stab injuries in the head. We all resolved that the case should be reported at the FESTAC Police Station.”

It was learnt that some of the victim’s friends later identified him.

The corpse was said to have been deposited in a morgue, while the police arrested and detained the chairman of the estate and his secretary; they were later released.

A source revealed  that the victim won a lottery few days to his death.

He said, “The man won a lot of money in a lottery and from last Thursday to Friday, he was asking his friends to drink at his expense.

“He was called on the phone that Friday evening and he went to meet a man. I suspect that a gang stabbed him and used an object to hit him in the head. There were bruises on his knees and it appeared they dragged him on the floor as well.

“When the police were removing his corpse, blood was dripping from his mouth and nostrils. He was murdered in cold blood.”

A friend of the victim, who did not identify himself, said his relative had visited the community.

“I can’t say why he was killed. Nobody knows. He just returned from a visit to the village,” he added.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the incident, adding that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba.

She added that the police had already arrested two suspects in connection with the death.

She said, “The chairman of one of the estates reported that at about 7am, he woke up and saw the victim lying lifeless with injuries on his head and body. The corpse was deposited at the Isolo General Hospital Mortuary for autopsy. Two suspects, Suleiman Ahmed and Ibrahim Yusuf, were arrested and the case transferred to the SCIID for further investigation.”

70-yr-old man rapes friend’s 9-yr-old daughter

A 70-year-old Moses Okon of Ikot Eyo Street, Calabar, Cross River State, is now cooling his feet at the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, CIID, Police Headquarters, Calabar, over the rape of his best friend’s daughter, aged nine. It was gathered that Mr. Okon, popularly known as Oyibo, and the victim’s father, one Mr. David Ekong, have been friends for more than a decade.

It was learned that the victim (names withheld) had been living with Oyibo for some time with the approval of her father, who took custody of the victim after divorcing the mother.

An eyewitness, who pleaded anonymity, told newsmen that the relationship between Oyibo and his friend turned sour when he discovered that his best friend had been sleeping with his nine years old daughter. The eyewitness added: “He has been doing it for long.

The girl told us that Oyibo has done it three times to her. She said the last time, he gave her N20 and begged her not to tell anyone before pulling off her pants, closing her mouth with his hands and raping her.” The suspect was earlier arrested by the State Housing Police Station and released, but after much pressure by Basic Rights Counsel, a child rights organisation, the matter is being handled directly by the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ozi-Obeh Jimoh.

In a medical report, the victim was diagnosed to have been infected with Staphylococcus Aureus.

“Patient in painful distress, yielded few growth of Staphylococcus aureus after 24 hours, walking funny, vulva inflammation, signs of obvious bruising, presence of semen in private part, hymen is broken,” the medical report read in part. When contacted, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Jimoh, confirmed that they have arrested Okon and he will be charged to court today.

His words: “It is true. A case like that was reported to us and the medical examination and report has proved that there was defilement. The man will be charged to court tomorrow (today).”F

My backside is covered by the blood of Jesus – actor, nonso diobi sends warning to gays

Nonso Diobi has sent a very clearly worded message to any gay person thinking of approaching him.

There have been speculations going round town about the Nollywood actors sexual preference.

The single but matured Nollywood fine boy seems not to be happy with the rumour and has thus come to the open to scare his gay ‘toasters’.

He wrote: “Im not against anybody’s sexual orientation, im not judging u on what u chose to become but if u are gay and u come near me talkless of sending me a DM the thunder that would fire u would come from redemption camp cos my A** is covered by the blood of JESUS”

You heard him, stay clear!

I just saw condom in my husband’s wallet, am i suppose to just overlook it?

Just Saw Condom In My Husband’s Wallet, Am I Suppose To Just Overlook It?

Anytime i have disagreement with my husband, he would always tell me that “I WL GO OUTSIDE, PLENTY BABES DEY OUTSIDE DAT NEED MEN AND I WONT EVEN SPEND MUCH B4 THEY OPEN THEIR LEGS”. I always feel hurt by this statement because I believe that we should BOTH be committed to make our home work. If i wont go out there to look for men why should he?

My marriage is just 2yyears but i have never enjoyed 1month happiness. My hubby would prefer to stay late @work because he doesn’t want our baby to disturb him with cry cry. I’m a sit @home mum, I resigned my marketing job because I want to have time for my baby but now my husband would not give me money anytime we have misunderstanding, not even for my baby too.

I have called his parents’ attention to this but his people call me “ABOKOKU”. That because he is married to me doesnt mean he should not enjoy himself, afterall, there are times someone is tired of eating rice and you would want to taste beans and other varieties. His father (57yrs) still has concubines which his mum can’t do anything about. But the truth is that this thing is wearing me out emotionally.

Nadia buari warns ladies against going after sugar daddies

Ghanaian actress, Nadia Buari, has offered words of advice to ladies who go after sugar daddies due to the financial gains that comes with dating one.

Instead of doing this, the actress thinks the ladies concerned should be patient and focus on a young man with a determination to succeed.

Buhari, who is a mother of twins shared her thoughts in a post on Facebook.

“Forget about these old men called sponsors, and build a future with that brilliant determined young man who is after you.”

“He might be poor today but he won’t be poor forever. Build wealth with your own man.” “Don’t die over material things, sponsors will bless you with gifts, diseases and curses.”

“Better things are yet to come. Some died of AIDS just because of Iphone 4; little did they know that we will have Iphone7.”

“Sponsors will waste your youthful years and you will miss the chance of getting married to a man that will make you a Mrs. It’s very true there will be more to life, to the wise ladies, think about this piece.”

My uncle slapped his wife twice for denying him s-x before going to church on sunday

Read Below:

My Uncle had a mild Argument with his new wife and ended up slapping her twice because she denied

him sex yet again after several months of denying him sex most especially on Sundays.

He hardly has time or strength to have sex during week days because of the tiresome nature of his work.

Most Saturdays if he asks for it, the wife always complains of being tired for sex after Saturday house chores, then on Sunday that both of them are free to have fun, the wife still thinks its inappropriate to have sex before going to church.

Is there anything wrong in having sex with your wife or husband before going to church service.

First off, the South African pastors, had us with their eating of snakes turned chocolate and stones turning to bread – now the Ghanaian pastors seem to have picked up the trend.

A Twitter user shared these tweets revealing what his Ghanaian Bishop told him. He says his Bishop says couples shouldn’t have se.x between the hours of 12am and 3am else angels that are supposed to guide them would return cause they aren’t allowed by God to see their se.xual activities and thus, the evil spirit strikes.

When i’m dead, don’t write rip on my facebook wall– sick nigerian guy

There was a mild drama on Facebook yesterday, 24th of September, 2016 when a promising young man who is reported to be very sick foretold his own death.

The man identified as Bashir Awal Ibrahim who seems disillusioned and fast losing hope in his recovery attracted immense reactions from his friends with a majority of them urging him to retract his negative words.

The user added that no one should condole or write RIP (Rest In Peace) on his timeline should incase he passes on.

This could be an attention-seeking stunt peculiar to people of his age.

Uniabuja student caught red handed trying to rape a female student all because he sent her ₦400 recharge card

Actress, Dorothy Njemanze shared this story on her Facebook wall
Read:

I was busy with school runs in Gwagwalada when I got a frantic call reporting the attempted rape of a first year University of Abuja(UniAbuja) student by another first year student of Biological Sciences called Monday.

By the time I got there, the Chief Security Officer was just beginning to interview both parties, starting from the boy, Monday.

He told of how he made his ‘intentions’ known to her and she said she would ‘think about it’ but he according to him, he didn’t understand why shy couldn’t give a straight answer, so he began making moves at ‘romancing’ her and feigns ignorance of her claims that from the moment he started, she told him to stop.

He claims he only noticed her seriousness ‘when he crossed the boundary’. He is upset that he had sent her 400 naira recharge card before and doesn’t get why she will reject him.

The young lady insists she came by at all because he said he was not well. By the time she got in, he was playing loud music, so from the moment he began trying to have se.x, she was shouting but the loud music drowned her voice. She insists he pinned her to the mattress and she tried strangling him with his necklace till it cut.

After that, she reached for the laptop as a weapon and ripping it out turned off all the music then he released her because she could now be heard. She ran out and called for help.

She got help and retrieved her phone and slippers and purse. Then she began reporting to their mutual friends and people she trusts. She insisted she injured him to. On demand, he took off his shirt and everyone saw injuries she gave him and more.

I got upset that the attitude towards gathering evidence is zero. There seemed to be a majority notion that as long as there was eventually no penetration, it is not so grievous a crime. All I insisted was to document all that could be seen as evidence before any statements are taken etc.
I applaud the lady for speaking up. We need ensure the students and security men understand sexual harassment in its entirety and be sure whatever responses are in place take into cognizance victim needs.

I was very agitated when it seemed people were upset that ‘she was trying to make a lot out of something very small.
More people need to understand what sexual violence is and legal provisions for victims and offenders.

More details tomorrow. These pictures were finally taken at the crime scene. More shocking experiences tomorrow morning.

Many are trying to use victim blaming and shaming to force her to drop the case. Please, let us change the narrative and share this widely to punish the perpetrator, not the victim. …Ambassador Dorothy Njemanze

Tears as MMM crashes in Zimbabwe, millions lose money

Lots of Zimbabweans are in a financial trauma as you read this, all thanks to the popular Ponzi scheme called MMM.

Thousands of people living in Zimbabwe, among them civil servants, vendors and more, were said to have lost thousands of dollars to fraudulent online pyramid scheme MMM Global Zimbabwe after the system collapsed recently. The social financial network, which relied on an accelerating number of new members to pay off the old, abruptly terminated its services without any prior notice last week leaving participants stranded.

           MMM pyramid scheme (bitcoinhub)

Iharare.co reports that these Zimbabweans joined the online investment scheme with the sole aim of “getting rich quickly”. It was said that the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe warned its people about the system, saying the scheme was fraudulent.

The scheme prides itself as a mutual aid fund under which recruited members contribute money to assist others and are promised investment returns of 30 percent per month. Some of the people left counting their losses told The Herald that they received emails that the scheme had been suspended until September 15.

One of the participants, Mr Tinashe Muza of Harare said: “All along things were moving in the right direction and we now have nowhere to claim our investments. When we started putting our funds in the scheme one could get assistance within seven days but things later changed to 14 days and when we were shut out the waiting period was 21 days. What it simply means is that the number of people in need of help has outnumbered the number of people joining. Right now we have nowhere to get our money which we invested.”

              MMM stands for Mavrodi Mondial

Moneybox and takes its name from its founder, Sergei Panteleevich Mavrodi of Russia. He founded MMM in 1989 and the scheme was declared bankrupt three years later leading to the disappearance of Mavrodi until his arrest in 2003.

While some people who were skeptical about the scheme started with small amounts, it is believed some poured in thousands of dollars anticipating higher returns. The RBZ said the schemes were fraudulent as existing investors were ‘paid money not from genuine market investment of their funds, but from contributions made by new investors, until a point when the scheme can no longer attract new investors.”

Sergey Panteleevich Mavrodi is a Russian criminal and a former deputy of the State Duma. He is the founder of the МММ series of pyramid schemes

Currently, the scheme is in Nigeria and it is called MMM – Federal Republic of Nigeria. Lots of Nigerians are on the scheme and the scheme actually works (just like how it was working well at first in Zimbabwe). MMM Nigeria, is a Ponzi scheme that originated in Russia that has now set up in Nigeria. Wikipedia says the company was involved in one of the biggest Ponzi schemes in the 1990s. It was estimated that thousands of people lost up to $10 billion dollars.

Well, a lot of people think the scheme is legit and not a scam but the history of the company says the opposite. Only time will tell.

Read Kemi Olunloyo's brithday message to Linda Ikeji

It was popular blogger Linda Ikeji’s 36th birthday last week and controversial journalist and daughter of former governor, Kemi Olunloyo, has taken out time to write Linda Ikeji a caustic birthday message.

In the open birthday message, Kemi Olunloyo revealed how Linda Ikeji allegedly destroyed a number of celebrity marriages, including that of her niece. She also went ahead to claim that Linda Ikeji is 42 years of age and not 36 as she claimed. Read the birthday message below:

         ”#hnnbirthday Happy 42nd birthday                         @officiallindaikeji. (PART ONE)

”Party’s over and everything is back to normal in the Linda Ikeji media office….or is it? Last week I tweeted things that obsessed Linda Ikeji fans needed to know about me and her warning them to stop comparing me to a blogger as I’m a Journalist. We are NOT in the same league. Most of her fans are illiterates anyway, female college prostitutes and in the 18-25yo age range. They think I’m jealous of her each time I expose her. Well this is MY BIRTHDAY MESSAGE to her.

”Dear Linda, I saw your interview in Today’s Woman and your birthday Twitter video click HERE to see the video. Darling you are not 36 yo and there is no reason to fool your fans. Age is nothing but a number. People who meet me think I am 35 when I’m actually 52. I look hat young. Your life is now catching up with you. There is KARMA now filtering in. Linda what does it feel like telling a magazine you never got over Dan Foster? How does it feel to be engaged to someone you love and 3 weeks to the wedding it’s cancelled, wasting Aso Ebi, Cow money and even the venue deposit all gone. This is what you did to my niece Adeola Olunloyo.

”Some people heard of this already in 2006 (Global Excellence and City People), 2013 on my Panadol headache audio which I attached below and also March 2016 in my Pulse TV interview exposing many celebrities including you.

”Why do I stress so much on this sad incident? I am constantly watching how your life is going when two people are in love and a “model” ruins their wedding 3 weeks to the day and elderly family members keep asking you what or who a “model” is? You wrecked so many relationships in your lifetime. Uche Pedro (who forgave you) at Bella Naija vs D’Banj, Deola Olunloyo vs Dan Foster wedding in 2006 and more.

”Journalist and Professional Blogger Stella Dimoko Korkus told me every single relationship you wrecked and you know them, but nothing hurts more than ruining my niece’s wedding.

”So now you are telling the world that you have blogged so much that you forgot your biological clock is ticking. You are now desperate for “regular sex” like you are some hoe. That can be easily achieved on Allen Avenue or as a “Madam” in your Banana mansion. You want a man and a bunch of kids. Karma is now biting you. I’m enjoying my two successful adult children, loving motherhood and single and happy. I don’t need a husband, a husband need ME! Take my advice, at 42 yo, I don’t know how you are going to start a family instantly.

”You may find a gold digger who wants to spend your money like the Maje Ayida and TeeBillz types. Just ask Toke Makinwa and Tiwa Savage who are now single lovely ladies. My advice to you young lady is not to rush shit and accept your mistakes. Deola Olunloyo has moved on, Dan Foster has a lovely family and you are alone, single and desperate telling your friends to introduce you to single guys. I was shocked reading this. Your fans kept silent about your desperation. They are illiterates anyway.

”No guy is single in Nigeria these days Linda. You are gonna be the second, third wife or the mistress. Kneel down and ask God for forgiveness, Give Jennifer Aniston a call for advice and listen to my 2013 audio attached. Money can buy a Banana, Pear or Strawberry Island mansion but CANNOT buy a husband and kids. Good luck Linda, you have no blogger awards yet like Uche Pedro, Omojuwa and Ben Kiruthi. Hope u get that MAMA2016 award and a Happy 42nd birthday!

Kemi Omololu-Olunloyo”

Man arraigned for killing his 2 daughters

A Lokoja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Monday remanded a 29-year-old applicant, Anyaogu Samuel in prison for allegedly killing his two daughters.

The accused was brought to the court by the police for allegedly killing his nine months old daughter, Chinoso, and two-year-old Miracle.

The police prosecutor, Sgt. Tuesday Ganagana, told the court that the children were killed on December 25, 2015 and January 1, 2016.

Ganagana said that the matter was reported at the ‘A’ Division Police Headquarters and CIID, Lokoja by the mother of the children, one Grace Edwin.

He said that the complainant, who resides in Nataco Area Lokoja, claimed that Samuel suffocated the nine-month-old to death on Christmas day.

The prosecutor deposed that the woman also alleged that the accused deliberately covered the baby’s nostril and mouth under the pretext of playing with her and this led to her death.

Ganagana said that the baby was confirmed dead at the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja.

He added that the complainant further alleged that on December 26, 2015 at about 02:08 am, the accused put the corpse of Chinoso into a sack and threw it into the stream beside NITEL office, Lokoja.

The complainant also said that Samuel inflicted a heavy knock at the centre of Miracle’s head on Jan. 1, 2016 at about 6:00 pm, and the girl died instantly.

The corpse of the girl was allegedly thrown into the same stream by Samuel.

The prosecutor added that Grace had told the police that, the accused had threatened to kill her if she revealed the cause of death of the two children to anybody.

The complainant, according to Ganagana, was later pressurised by her family members to report the case to the police.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Levi Animoku declined the application for bail by counsel to the accused, Mr O.S. Atokolo.

“This court declines to admit the accused to bail, consequently, he shall be remanded at the Federal Prisons, Koton-Karfe, Kogi State,” he ruled on the bail application.

The case has been adjourned till Oct. 18, for mention.

Senate orders slaughter of roaming cows in FCT

The Senate Monday ordered the slaughter of cows found roaming within the Federal Capital City (FCT) Abuja metropolis.

In the alternative of slaughtering such roaming cows, the upper chamber said that the cows should be arrested and a fine of N50, 000 imposed per cow.

This is the declaration of the Chairman, Senate Committee on FCT, Senator Dino Melaye at an interactive meeting with the FCT Minister, Mohammed Bello and Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Brutai in Abuja on the seizure.

The session was summoned over the alleged seizure of over 400 plots of land in the Maitama District Extension, Abuja by the Nigeria Army.

Melaye said that the responsible movement of herds of cows in and around the FCT in wonton disregard of law and order has become a matter of embarrassment to the residents of the capital city.

The Kogi West lawmaker said that the FCT minister and other under him have been authorized to slaughter any wandering cow within the FCT metropolis.

He further mandated the FCT Minister to henceforth arrest roaming cows warning that the minister would be severely sanctioned if mandate was not carried out.

Melaye said, “We are not particularly happy with the state of sanitation in the FCT. We have received a lot of complaints across the metropolis of FCT but the greatest of it all is the menace of cattle rearers in the territory.”

The lawmaker recalled how on his way to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja he saw an underage herdsman with over 50 cows passing through the pedestrian route which blocked the only route for created for pedestrians.

The movement of the cows, he said, caused pandemonium among passersby of the area who were forced to flee the route.
He added, “To me that is absurd, that is not acceptable in the capital city. If it were to be at a time when we have a visiting president/ diplomats from other countries visiting our country what impression are we giving to our visitors.

“So on this note we authorize the slaughter of any cow that is seen within the metropolis and if that is not going to work any cow that is seen within the metropolis of FCT must be arrested with a minimum fine of N50, 000 per cow.

“This must be enforced if not anytime again we see cows or we receive reports of cows moving around the streets, the committee would sanction the FCT administration.”

He also frowned against the menace of hawkers and beggars in the streets of FCT and asked the ministers to enforce the law on the issue.

On the seizure of plots of land, the committee chairman, noted that his committee was taken aback when it received petitions from members of the public about the seizure of 238 heaters of land spanning over 400 plots in Maitama District Extension in Abuja by the Nigeria Army.

He said that the petitioners claimed that the seizure was done without notifying the allottees or the FCT Minister.

He noted that section 297 (2) of 1999 Constitution as amended further affirmed that the ownership of land in the FCT vests in the government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

He also said that the Act establishing the FCT vests all land in the President who delegates this power to the Minister of FCT.

Melaye noted that on 13th of September, 2016, the Nigeria Army without any provocation deployed soldiers to the district drove out workers of the construction companies who were engaged to provide engineering infrastructure for the district.

He said that the Army sealed off the road leading to the district in disregard of the allottees. .

According to him, “Access to the land was denied the allottees, all equipment and trucks were entrapped in the district. The committee was reliably informed that soldiers sighted at the entrance of the district barred people from entering the district at the order of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Brutai who instructed them to take over the district and not allow anybody in or out of the premises.”

He recalled that Maitama extension district was designed and allocated in 2008/ 2009 by the then FCT Minister, Senator Adamu Aliero under the administration of late President Umaru Musa Yar’adua.

He noted that the need to clear the confusion caused by the seizure informed Senate invitation of FCT Authority and the Chief of Army Staff to make their submission on the matter.

He also recalled that building plan and Certificate of Occupancy have been issued to allottees and that most allottees have commenced the construction of their buildings while some have completed their.

But the Chief of Army Staff represented by Major Gen. Pat Ake said that the land was allocated to the Nigeria Army in 1991.

The FCT Minister said that the issue would be resolved.

The committee gave them two week to resolve the matter.

Edo Election: Ize-Iyamu remains the only PDP candidate – INEC

As the people of Edo states goes to the poll Wednesday to elect a successor to Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) maintained that Ize-Iyamu remains the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the election.

According to the commission, the candidate forwarded by Senator Ahmed Markafi led faction is the accepted candidate for the party in the postponed Wednesday election.

Responding to our reporter on the issue, Mr. Nick Dazang, Deputy Director, Media and Publicity said, “the candidate forwarded by the Markafi faction. Ize-Iyamu, that was the one forwarded to us and by the nature of the court order we received, Port Harcourt court order, he is still the candidate.”

On Ondo state, he said the commission was yet to take any decision as the two factions in the party submitted names for the November election.

Dazang however said that the commission have till October 27th before deciding who to accept as the party candidate for Ondo poll.

He said, “We have not taken decision in respect of that yet, the two factions submitted names to us, first was the Markafi faction and followed by the Ali Modu-Sheriff faction. So you know at the stage we are now, it is just part of the submission of the list, so it is until 27th of Octobe, 30 days to the election in November that we will now publish the final list, by which time we now know which candidate is going to contest on the platform of PDP.”

Another judge withdraws from Kanu’s trial

Justice John Tsoho of the Federal High Court, Abuja withdrew from the trial of pro-Biafra agitator, Nnamdi Kanu Monday.

He announced his decision to return the case file to the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Ibrahim Auta for the case to be reassigned to another judge.

Kanu and two of his associates – Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi were arraigned before the court earlier this year on a six-count charge of treasonable felony filed for the Federal Government by the office of the Attorney General of the Federation.

The case was assigned to Justice Tsoho after another judge of the court, Justice Ahmed Mohammed withdrew from it upon allegation by Kanu that the judge (Justice Mohammed) was incapable of ensure justice in his case.

Trial was expected to open in the case Monday after the Court of Appeal, Abuja rejected Kanu’s appeal against an earlier ruling by Justice Tsoho allowing an arrangement for the protection of prosecution’s witnesses.

Monday, Kanu’s lawyer, Chuks Muoma (SAN) drew the court’s attention his application for the judge to withdraw from the case, alleging that he was biased in the way he was handling the case.

Muoma said his client has also petitioned the National Judicial Council (NJC) on the issue. He contended that the best option was for the judge to suspend proceedings in the case pending the NJC’s decision on his client’s petition.

The defence lawyer told the court that the NJC has acknowledged receipt of the petition and has commenced investigation.

“We are only asking the court to hands off the case. My client has lost confidence in this court. Following the development, all we are asking this court to do is to hands off this case pending the outcome of the NJC Investigation.

“It would not be proper for the court to continue with this matter when investigation is ongoing. So, in the interest of justice, we are asking the court to hands off the case. I would urge the court to transfer the matter. I will suggest that it be sent back to the CJ.”

The lawyer accused the judge of acting in line with the suggestion of President Muhammadu Buhari that Kanu was not going to be released under any circumstance.

Ruling, Justice Tsoho said he has no personal interest in the case. He elected to return the case file to the court’s Chief Judge.

The judge frowned at the attitude of the defence lawyer. He noted that Muoma he acted un-professionally through his utterances. He said it was not bothered by the defence’s decision.

The judge said since the defence has expressed lack of confidence in the way the court has handled the case, “it is only reasonable for the court to disqualify itself from further hearing the matter.

“Accordingly, this case is hereby forwarded to the Chief Judge for further re-assignment”, Justice Tsoho said.

APC blasts Fayose for crackdown on banks

EKITI State All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticised Governor Ayo Fayose for his crack down on some banks.

The party said such an action constitutes a threat to the economic survival of the Fountain of Knowledge.

It described the governor’s action as “a wrong signal to the investing community and a recipe for job losses among workers in the bank, majority of who are Ekiti indigenes.”

Fayose, last week, severed business relationships with Zenith Bank by ordering Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), non-ministerial agencies, government-owned tertiary institutions and workers to move their accounts from the bank within 48 hours.

The action is believed to be in retaliation for the freezing of his personal bank accounts in Zenith, and the bank’s denial of sponsoring his campaign in the 2014 governorship election.

The APC Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatunbosun, in a statement yesterday said it was wrong for Fayose to drag government agencies into his private affairs, which have no bearing with state matters.

He said a similar action had forced a sister bank to close its operations in the state.

The party spokesman noted that Ekiti was seriously economically challenged and cannot afford a confrontation with banks and other investors at this critical period.

Olatunbosun berated the governor for tying his personal fate to the fate of 2.5 million citizens.

Olatunbosun said: “Governor Fayose has personalised Ekiti State to the extent that whoever offends him offends the state and her people, which is dangerous to the economic survival of both the state and her people.

“Last time, he ordered all government’s agencies and workers to move their accounts from Ecobank simply because the bank refused to surrender the cash for its Community Social Responsibility projects to the governor when the bank insisted that it would carry out the projects like is the practice in other states of the federation.

“For this reason, the governor took offence, destroyed the culvert at the entrance of the bank and ordered government offices and workers to move their accounts from the bank, thereby forcing the bank’s closure in the state with Ekiti indigenes working in the bank losing their jobs.

“This time, because Zenith Bank washed its hands off election sponsorship fraud through which Fayose assumed power; he is fighting back by severing relationship with the bank by ordering all government offices and workers to move their accounts from the bank.

“As expected, Zenith Bank will close shop with attendant job losses among Ekiti indigenes working there, including sending wrong signals to the investing community that Ekiti is under a siege of a reckless and maximum governor that promotes anti-investment policies.”

APC: Oyegun takes Tinubu’s case to Buhari

The embattled National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, is to consult President Muhammadu Buhari over the attack launched against him by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Odigie-Oyegun, the man at the centre of the controversy, on his part, vowed, yesterday, not to lose his cool on the matter, saying he would not respond to Tinubu, who he called a respected party leader until after the crucial governorship election taking place in his home state, Edo, tomorrow.

Meanwhile, senior party figures, including legislators, were, yesterday, divided over the faceoff. The party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Timi Frank, however, picked up the attack by Tinubu as a vindication for him over his past demands that Odigie-Oyegun resign or be removed as national chairman of the party.

Tinubu had in a communiqué from his office on Sunday night, rebuked Odigie-Oyegun for allegedly sabotaging the wheels of democracy in Ondo State, following the decision to forward Chief Rotimi Akeredolu’s name as the party’s governorship candidate, despite claims by the party’s Ondo Governorship Appeal Panel that the delegates’ list used for the primaries was compromised.

Speaking to newsmen, yesterday, Odigie-Oyegun said: “Asiwaju is a well-respected leader of our party, so I cannot be seen speaking evil against him. I have to consult properly with other leaders of the party before we make any definite statement.

Again, you know we have a crucial election here in Edo, which is my priority right now.” Though the national chairman did not name President Buhari, party sources in Abuja, however, told newmsmen that the President was on top of the list of those to be consulted.

He continued: “We don’t want to lose focus, and I know Asiwaju also wants us to win because we all have worked hard for this. So, maybe after the election, if there is need, I will speak, if no need, I will relax.

“But all I can say now is that most of the things said in the papers about me are not true. I have always believed in internal democracy, that the credibility of primaries must be taken seriously. “I believe that if primaries of parties are not credible, it may derail any democracy, so I don’t play with these things at all. Everybody knows me, and I don’t joke with my credibility, and I have tried to maintain it. “Like I said, Asiwaju is our leader, and we all hold him in high esteem, so I will never join issues with him.

“But may be after Edo elections, after we must have emerged victorious, we may speak on some of the issues raised. So there is no problem at all. Edo is the focus for now, and as you know, this is my state, so it is a very serious election for us. “I want to be allowed to remain focussed, then after the election, we can speak,” he stated. The issue is, however, raising mixed responses in the party hierarchy.

A member of the National Working Committee, NWC, of the party, who sought to exonerate the national chairman of the allegations raised against him, revealed that a brief on the issues that led to Tinubu’s attack was being prepared for onward transmission by the national chairman to the President once he returned from Benin after the governorship election.

Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the party, Comrade Frank, however, saw the attack as a vindication for him over his past calls for Odigie-Oyegun’s resignation or removal from office. Speaking with journalists in Abuja, Frank said if no action was taken, he would after 14 days, mobilise party members to protest against the chairman in Abuja.

He said he was already mobilising some members of the National Executive Committee, NEC, of the party to convene an emergency NEC meeting.

“I was one of the first persons in this party who took the bull by the horns to foresee what is happening today in our party, and I came out early to say there were issues or crisis in this party. “As at that time, I was alone, nobody saw where I was coming from. This crisis started when the issue of the leadership of the National Assembly came up, and I foresaw it at that time that because of the decision and position that my party took at that time against their own party members like the Senate President and the Speaker, there could be further issues.

I came up to shout but then again, nobody listened to me. Then, it was Saraki. “They appropriated my job and said it is only Oyegun and the secretary that can speak for the party. “Today, I have been vindicated.

We all saw what happened in the aftermath of Ondo primary elections…a founding father of the party, a national leader of our party has concurred with my earlier call that Oyegun should resign as national chairman. “That should let you know that I foresaw what they did not see. Yes, he has tried by taking the party to where he thinks he has taken it to and I congratulate him for that, but again, you cannot give what you do not have.”

Man asks for all the money spent on ex-fiance

A woman has recently shared her relationship drama on social media. She spoke out that a man she was once engaged to is still bitter about their break up and has decided to be petty.

She said: “See me see wahala. This is the expenses list of what my sisters supposed hubby gave my parents, to pay back all he has done for her. Meanwhile, my sister knew this guy less than 2 months ago, through my parents.” See the list below:

She continued: “He claims he wants to marry my sister. But my sister insisted on studying him first before jumping into the marriage. The guy and his parents, especially the mum, were hurrying everything up, that they needed a wife ASAP.”

“To my parents it was a dream come true while my sister was not happy about the whole issue. Finally my sister said, nothing good can come out of it because she does not have feelings for the guy and she sees no reason why they are in a rush.”

“If you look closely at that list, you will see N220,000, that was meant for the traditional marriage, claiming they needed it in a small way.”

“Since my sister said NO, they requested for a pay back of all he has done during their time of dating, including the money he gave my brother.”
